Giulia Masella Soldati is a Ph.D. candidate in the Linguistics Program. Her areas of interest include phonetics/laboratory phonology, language documentation and revitalization, and second language acquisition. Her current research is on the sounds of Akuzipik, an endangered Indigenous language spoken on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. Giulia was born and raised in Brazil; she became an English language instructor when she was 19 years old, and it was her passion for languages and for teaching that made her decide to pursue a career in Linguistics.
