Reham Alshikh is a Lecturer at Jazan University in Saudi Arabia and a PhD Candidate in Linguistics at George Mason University. She received her bachelor’s degree from Jazan University in 2012 and her master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach in 2018.

Her research interests include semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, and language variation. Her Qualifying Papers examined Saudi children’s perception of regional Arabic dialects and the acquisition and teaching of English idioms among Saudi EFL learners.

Current Research

Reham’s doctoral dissertation investigates the semantic adaptation of English loanwords in Saudi Arabic media, examining how borrowed words develop and change in meaning over time and how Saudi readers interpret and respond to these expressions.
