Janalyn Miklas, PhD candidate in linguistics, was recently selected as a winner of the Best Student Poster Award in Speech Communication at the 189th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in Honolulu, HI. Her poster was titled "A cross-linguistic corpus acoustic analysis of rhotics."

This conference is the premier venue for scientific research in acoustics, and this meeting was also the 6th Joint Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America and the Acoustical Society of Japan. The award was selected based on scores from a jury of experts in acoustics. Miklas's winning poster can be viewed on GMU's MARS repository, and an article write-up is available in the Proceedings of Meetings on Acoustics. We look forward to seeing more of her great work!
