Mason linguists traveled to East Carolina University to present their research in second language acquisition.

The five-day Modern Language Association workshop was designed to strengthen the teaching of reading and writing at community colleges and other schools that prioritize access over selectivity in admissions.

This October, Fall for the Book celebrates their 25th anniversary. The last two-and-a-half decades have brought many changes to Northern Virginia’s oldest book festival, but talented and storied headliners have remained a steadfast part of the festivities. This year is no different.

What does it mean to support Mason’s linguistically diverse students? Teams from the Composition Program and Writing Center are working to address this question. 

Sylvia Schreiner, assistant professor in the linguistics program, has received a CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation to support her work documenting and supporting the Yupik language on St. Lawrence Island.

Mason's Commencement will be in-person on Friday, May 20, at 10:00 am. The college's Degree Celebration for the Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, including the School of Integrative Studies, takes place May 20 at 2:00 pm; the Degree Celebration for the Social Sciences takes place May 20 at 6:00 pm.

CHSS fall 2021 graduates will have two options for in-person Winter Graduation celebrations: attend a Patriot Procession event on December 14-15, or a formal Graduation Ceremony on December 16.
